About Red Arowana
Red Arowana or Scleropages Formosus is a trendy aquarium fish that hails from the Osteoglossidae family. They are easily found across South East Asia in the slow-moving streams and rivers.
Red Arowana is also much famous in the Chinese trade. So, you can also find them with the common name Dragonfish.
These exotic fish usually come in a large size and dazzling color. They even share a very similar look to the Silver Arowana that is an inhabitant of South America.
These fish species usually come with a nice jawline, which is a distinctive feature of their appearance. They have a drawbridge, which comes as a unique trait about their mouth. Since Red Asian Arowana possess many bones and teeth in their mouth, they are also known as bony tongue fish.
The bodies of Scleropages formosus are covered with large scales arranged in 5 horizontal rows. Each of the rows of their scales comes in three different colors. There is a base gold color and two other red-colored rims, which renders them a unique look.
